Princess Canine and Pussy Galore

My husband and I grew up with animals however, when we bought our home we were young and free spirited off to roam around so who had time to give the proper care to any other living creature other then ourselves. Plus we liked our home clean and clutter free, also free of hair, toys, etc…

Then as life progressed we had children and children led to animals. The first pet I remember us having was a fish. Some might not think a fish should be considered a pet but you have to understand the progression of things. Well the fish led to a snake. Many snakes as a matter of fact. Then turtles to hamsters and from hamsters to birds and finally a DOG! Then the dog led to two cats. Then a pregnant cat came into our life and gave birth to four kittens so yeah we kept the mama cat and one kitten. If that wasn’t enough another cat just so happened to find us on her last limb. So do you get it? Now we are living with Princess Canine and Pussy Galore (Five Kitties)!

Each one of them is special and unique

First off there is Curious. She is a yellow lab. Loving, Loyal, Funny and Unique!

Then we have the sisters. Two gray and white short hair domestic cats. They’ve adapted very well and have accepted all the kitties that came after them. They were our first cats to come into our home. They are also very loving although Trouble is more friendly with company while Kornelia is a bit more unsure.

Then we have Tiger Lily. She had been living on the streets and we took her in when we found her pregnant and malnourished. She is a bit more shy but she still likes to be pet however, she is not keen on being held. I’d say she is more independent! To her credit she was an incredibly good mom. This is her after giving birth to four kittens in our bathroom.

Then of course we just had to keep one of the kittens. Well the boys and I wanted to keep all four but my husband was the voice of reason even though he’s usually the one who is bringing the cats home. In any event, we kept Shadow. He is our only male animal of the house. He has exquisite coloring and markings. He is the most bold of our brood. He’s never had a fear of our seventy pound lab even when he weighed in at a whopping one pound. He is the explorer of the house and very loving although he lets you love him and then leaves.

Lastly, there is Squat. She is the latest acquired cat. She came to us on her deathbed. We have been slowly nursing her back to health. She is probably about eight years old and is blind. She is always starving for attention and is the most friendly cat you’ll ever meet although she does these gentle bites a lot which I attribute to her blindness and needing more sensory input.

In any event, if you don’t own a pet you should consider adopting one or two, three, four…… Not only will you save their life but they may save yours!
